Anyone who truly knows me knows about my obsessions with anything French. French architecture, Macaroons, Eiffel Tower, Versailles, Royal art, Marie Antoinette etc.
Obviously I was trilled when I heard about a new Marie Antoinette movie that premiered at the Berlin Film Festival. The movie is called Les adieux à la Reine (Farewell, My Queen). Sadly the movie is in French, which means
1. I have to learn French
2. Wait for the movie to be subtitled
3. Don’t watch the movie
The movie is set during the early stages of the1789 French revolution. Louis XVI, Marie Antoinette, their children and other aristocrats are living at the Palace of Versailles. As the Bastille falls King Louis XVI decides that he will not be a fugitive king. The king and queen become prisoners at the palace leaving the French monarchy on the hands of the people. While prisoner Marie Antoinette has a lover, No, not Count Fersen, this time it’s a woman. Marie Antoinette a lesbian, Cant wait.
Finally, we will see what happens to the Royal family after the Bastille falls. Will they get beheaded? Ahhh, I cannot wait to see this movie.
The release date is March 21, 2012 in France
